Oil Painters of America goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings in the region.  The focus in the jurying process is to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.  The awarding juror for the Year 2007 Central Regional Show will be nationally recognized Master Signature member Jeff Legg.  I am honered that my painting was accepted, titled "First of Spring" (12x24).

This will be my third year in a row, spending about 10 days in the Estes Park area painting.  Artists selected, agree to paint on location within a 100 mile radius of Estes Park, official painting period August 4th through August 24th.  All work must be created in the field (no studio work), and will be stamped and authenticated prior to painting.  Also included, will be a Quick Draw event.  If history repeats itself, 75 artists will be painting at the same time with hundreds of onlookers inspecting are work, as we paint.  This painting will be allowed 90 minutes from start to completion.     

Artists personally invited to take part in the second annual plein air event and competition.  This event is sponsored by the Jaques Art Center of Aitkin Minnesota in cooperation with the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce's River Boat Heritage Days.  Included with the plein air competion is the quick draw event, and new to me and the River Boat Arts Fest is the nocturne event.  Where all participants begin painting when the sun goes down.
